At the end of 2005, the number of registered foreigners in Japan reached over 2million and we are expecting this number will surely go up. One out of 17 marriages is international marriage; in Tokyo only, international marriage is one out of 10 marriages.
Japan is actually taking steps to become a nation of Multi races. Yet, when we overview the geographic position of the country and its history. we can't deny that Japan will confront difficulties to make a society that can co-exist with multi races or a multicultural society.
Even though, Japanese government is now seeking ways to make a society of Multicultural co-existence by making policies and plans and is encouraging local governments as well, it is not an easy way.
We founding committee members, as a party of multicultural families with experience and years of knowladge this society, know the difficulties involved in being a Japanese and foreigner married in Japan and then raising a family.
We have good news. When we see children growing up, overcoming and breaking through the barriers of cultures and race, we can find hope and see that there are ways to make a society of Multicultural co-existence by embracing those families.
For many years, with other International families, we have been helping ourselves by collecting necessary or useful information and organizing events and seminars.
In order to solve problems and encourage Multicultural families in Japan, We are providing better information and supporting projects to aid the people around those families.
